Title

La chiave dei sogni e manualetto di chiromanzia [The Key to Dreams; and Little Manual of Palmistry]. New York: Vincenzo Ciocia, 1913.

Description

This copy bears a copyright date of 1905, in contrast to date on the cover of 1913 for printing, as well as 89 Centre Street address, rather than the earlier 79 Centre Street, thus suggesting that this is a later printing by Vincenzo Ciocia at a different location eight years later. Indeed, an ad for this very same work appears in the only grammar in my collection, with a copyright date of 1905, with no information about the author or publisher: the mysterious (because lacking the name of an author or publisher) La più grande e completa grammatica Italiana-Inglese con la pronunzia figurata data al modo italiano, q.v.

There were several works published by Italians in America of this genre, though this is the only one in the collection, suggesting that the belief that dreams held special meaning was not confined to Sigmund Freud and his followers

There are advertisements for several other books in this work, one of which is a Ciocia publication (Formulario-Manuale del notaio italo-americano), q.v.; and another of which (La più grande e completa grammatica italiana-inglese), though not stated to be published by Ciocia, is also in the collection.
