Unlike Tears, this collection of Balabanoff's poetry contains only poetry in Italian. It is dedicated "To the victims of Fascism, to the Martyrs for Liberty," named in the prefatory remarks by "gli incaricati" (those in charge). The referenced martyrs are Matteotti, Berneri and the Rosselli brothers.

Balabanoff, discussed more fully in other items, was a Russian-Italian socialist activist and writer of Jewish origin.
