Title
Fiorello LaGuardia. New York: Worthy Printing Company, Inc., 1934.
Description
Published only a year after La Guardia was elected mayor of New York City, this work by Flamma is, for the first half, a dyspeptic (or dystopic) meditation on the vagaries of wealth, prosperity and our national illusion during the Depression. Only starting at p. 41 of this 77-page essay does he begin in earnest to discuss La Guardia’s life. Flamma concludes this work with evident pride that after electing mayors in 29 other cities, Italians finally elected a mayor to the country’s most important city.
Flamma, a pseudonym - his name in Italy was Domenico Pignato, lived in colorful life, making up much about his past life, in the Ciambelli fashion, something we know because of heroic research by Stefano Morello. See the entry for Italiani di America.
