Description
As late as the second half of the 1940's, and thus well after Mussolini's death, Armando Borghi continued to publish anti-fascist and anarchist tracts like this one.
Besides Kropotkin, Borghi drew inspiration from Bakunin, among non-Italians.
These "colloquies", he tells us, are imaginary, theoretical polemics treated in the book The State by Kropotkin. They were first published in installments in the L'Adunata dei Refrattari, the American anarchic newspaper that figures prominently throughout the Collection. Published in Italy but as a gathering of installments published in a U.S. radical newspaper, the post-Galleani deportation heir to the Cronoca Sovversiva, these colloquies are typical of the continued connection between Italians in Italy and the U.S.
Similarly, consistent with the international nature of the anarchist and socialist movements, the inside back cover of this work (see photo) advertises works of Borghi's written and published "in exile (out of print)," in Florence, Paris, London and New York, at least four of which are included in the Collection, including the much translated Mussolini in Camicia, the ad noting two (different) editions published in English (London and New York). The Collection contains that work in both English editions, as well as in the Italian original published in New York, French and Dutch translations published a few years later, still when an Italian edition in Mussolini's Italy would have been impossible to publish, as well as several post-war editions published (finally) in Italy itself.
