Title

Premiata fabbriche di armoniche [Prizewinning Accordion Factory]. Firenze: Borrani - Firenze, 1928.

Description

This trade catalogue contains glorious color illustrations of accordions made at the center of world-wide accordion manufacture for more than 150 years: in Castelfidardo, Italy, where Paolo Soprani had been "since 1863."

While the catalogue itself is not dated, an enclosed letter on Soprani letterhead that clearly accompanied the catalogue is dated July 4, 1928, addressed to The Tosi Music Company of Boston, in reply to Tosi's letter of June 21 apparently requesting the catalogue.

The catalogue also includes several photos of Soprani workshop operations, in addition to color illustrations of instruments alone and instruments in the hands of apparently well-known players, including, in North America, Professor William Anderson.

The catalogue also lists prices of accordions and other instruments (mandolins, e.g.), noting that discounts may be given of 20-30%. Several ink handwritten notations on the cover note the 20-30% discount ("see letter to Tosi [date]").
