Title
Vita: rivista dei nostri giorni [Life: magazine of nowadays], Anno 1, No. 2. New York: Vita Publishing Co., 15 Settembre [Septebmer] 1915.
Description
This magazine was managed by Flavio Venanzi, whose writings are gathered in another work in the Collection, Scritti politici e letterarii: raccolti ed ordinati da Giovanni Di Gregorio. New York: Venanzi Memorial Committee, 1921. A short-lived radical journal, copies of which are hard to find, it was edited by and had numerous contributions by the great and charismatic I.W.W. activist-dramatist-poet Arturo Giovannitti, who appears throughout the Collection.
Vita appears to have been seeking to emulate, for an Italian-American audience, the success of Max Eastman's The Masses, combining large format, high production values, and well-produced artwork with a mixture of radical news and literature. Its short life suggests it was not financially viable.
