Title
Flamma Alitur [The Flame Still Burns]. New York: Nicoletti Bros Press, 1916.
Description
This copy inscribed by author to Il Carroccio. Preface by Luigi Roversi.
Salvo (b. Italy, 1889; active in New York through 1948), a freelance journalist, came to the U.S. in 1905. Based in New York, he collaborated in Italian language dailies and magazines in both Italy and the U.S. He wrote both prose and, like this work, poetry that was often filled with patriotic sentiments in restrained style.
Inscribed as it was by Salvo to Il Carroccio, this copy was probably a gift to Agostino de Biasi. Salvo was editor of two periodicals: La Rassegna, published monthly, from 1920–1922 and Vita Italo-Americana, published weekly, from 1920–1929. The Collection has two issues of Vita, both dated 1929.
In addition to managing two publications, Salvo contributed to the newspaper La Voce d’Italia (edited by Igino Manecchia).
